A quarterly meeting Monday at WalMart Stores Inc.'s home office in Bentonville served as a semipublic send-off to retiring President and Chief Executive Officer H. Lee Scott, who pushed environmental initiatives in his final years at the helm.
Scott's efforts to reduce energy use throughout the company's operations, promote environmentally friendly products and reduce packaging helped turn around the public image of the company, which had become the target of criticism by labor unions and environmental groups.
