WalMart e-mail is scam

ARLAN -- The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has been alerted to an Internet scam circulating in the county.

Residents are being e-mailed by someone posing to be from WalMart Stores. The message says the recipient has been chosen to take part in a survey in exchange for a $150 gift certificate to any WalMart.

The message asks for personal information such as a Social Security number, date of birth and credit card number. This message indicates that the information will be provided to all WalMart stores to redeem the $150 gift certificate.
